Synopsis
"El infierno de los amantes crueles” is the story of one of the protagonists of the Decameron, Nastagio degli Onesti, specifically how Boticelli represented the story in his four famous tables. It describes the amorous vicissitudes of Nastagio degli Onesti, a young man from Ravenna whose love is not returned by his beloved. Beneath a pine tree, he sees how the woman is chased by a rider who attacks and kills her, but she gets up straight away and the infernal chase is repeated endlessly. The ghosts are bound by a curse caused by the woman’s rejection of her would-be lover, who finally commits suicide. Nastagio thinks that the apparition could be useful and makes his disdainful beloved see it and thus make her change her mind and marry him to create a happy marriage.
