A practical initiation class on video dance production techniques given by the Navarran production company Arena Comunicación.

After an intensive session concentrating on the camera and editing as applied to dance, groups are formed to develop a series of projects. These projects are filmed on the following day and edited the day after that. The works must be finished in 48 hours. The class offers a bold, intense experience to discover the relationship between the camera and the body, between editing and choreography.

Dantzagunea (a Zinetika collaborator) has organised this laboratory as a precursor to the festival. This workshop deals with dance and video and is directed by Ibon Taboada and Oihana Varela.

The workshop is designed to blend dance and video, moulding use of the camera to dance so as to find a dialogue between the scrutiny of the camera and the expressiveness of dance. Participants will learn how to connect space (placement)-movement-camera to create different ambiences.

After an introduction to video dance, improvisation resources will be developed and those with the camera will start to internalise movement based on the proposed exercises. The first day will deal with the static and the second with the moving camera.
